Anna Washburn is a printmaker and aspiring tattoo artist currently residing in Huntsville, AL. As a senior printmaking student at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, Anna explores her past experiences as a LGBTQ+ youth growing up in the rural south through combinations of symbols found in the natural world and metaphorical text. She loves her work in printmaking, however, tattoos are a great interest to her. In addition to her printmaking work, Anna creates digital tattoo designs for herself and friends to create a solid portfolio in hopes of apprenticing under a professional in the future. Tattooing may be the end goal for Anna, but she will never forget her first love, screen printing. Anna had never experienced printmaking of any sort before her sophomore year of college at UAH when she took Intro to Printmaking under Professor Katie Baldwin. Taking this class revealed to Anna that she was not a painter, as that was her original area of study, but instead a printmaker. This realization led to the inevitable change of her concentration to printmaking two semesters later which she now studies full time and mildly obsesses over.
